What Courtney Wore…

This is really funny: Courtney Love  has participated with some friends to create a website showing all the outfits she wears. She’s not the author of  www. whatcourtneyworetoday.com, but she sends her outfits by mail or phone on a daily (or so) basis to them, and they post it for her. The clothes are mostly big designer names, but I know she has a big vintage collection so I’m hoping we get a peek at that (please!).

Valentino dress.

Pucci dress, wolford tights and Anne boots.

Versace dress from 1998.

Alexander Wang sweater and Genetic denim shorts.

Navy Lanvin dress with Mikimoto pearls.

Chloë Sevigny for Opening Ceremony Spring 2011

Oh, Chloë! Is there any girl in the world that has better personal style than her? Not only is she a personal favorite of mine, but at Opneing Ceremony they think the same, because there’s a third collection with her designs for the New York brand. It’s a ‘pre-spring’ 2011 collection (???) and it’s perfect, I want it all. This collection focusses around five prints:  leopard, polka dot, paisley, houndstooth and floral, and also contains matching tights. The prints that have been used are by photographer Robert Mapplethorpe.

Lorelei Lee’s Pink Dress

In case you love iconic movie outfits (like me), and have a bank account with a value of $ 250.000 (not me), then you should buy one of the most legendary dresses ever. On the 10th of June the pink silk dress Marilyn Monroe wore in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953) will be auctioned. It’s this gorgeous slik dress, copied by Madonna in the video for ‘Material girl’.  The value is estimated at $150.000-$250.000……..

Kate Moss for Topshop Summer 2010 Preview

Finally! After a disappointing collection of basic t-shirts and tops this spring, there’s a new, loveable Kate Moss for Topshop collection. A few pictures have leaked on the internet, and I like what I see. The Summer 2010 collection seems to have a romantic feeling: maxi dresses, floral prints, and pretty pastels are dominating the collection.

Instead of the usual promo stills, we can see Kate showing the collection in this video, shot by Nick Knight:

On sale this Thursday!

French Hippie Chic by Jean Bouquin

My current obsession is French fashion designer Jean Bouquin.  He’s not a very well know designer, I’ve  recently found out he dressed Brigitte Bardot in the late ’60’s and early 70’s and I’ve been craving info about him, but there’s almost none!

He started as a fashion designer in St. Tropez at the end of the 1960’s. After his success in St. Tropez, he opened a second shop in Paris called Mayfair. His designs can be described as “hippie chic”. His vision was a natural woman, draped with beads, who lives an ironically privileged hippie life wearing luxurious clothing: printed  velvet minidress,  ruffle maxi dresses, beaded transparent tunics and the use of etnic influences. A style adored by another St. Tropez resident: the legendary Brigitte Bardot:

Promoting his clothes in a French Magazine:

He also was a costume designer for movies, like the movie “Les Idoles”(1968), about the rise and fall of three pop stars (someone please release this movie as a dvd!):

Another movie image from the Italian horror movie “Il delitto del diavolo” (1970), aka “Queens of Evil”:
