Sonia Rykiel for H&M

Yep, another designer collaboration. This time H&M has contacted Sonia Rykiel to create a lingerie- and a knitwear collection. The lingerie will be at selected H&M-stores from the 5th of December 2009. The lingerie will also be for sale at the Sonia Rykiel boutiques. The knitwear will be available in H&M stores from the 20th of February 2010.

Sonia Rykiel’s singular fashion story began at a revolutionary time in France: the extraordinary spring of May 1968. Since the opening of her first boutique on the rue de Grenelle in that time of social upheaval, Rykiel has become an ambassadress of a very Parisian, deeply Saint Germain style, with its hallmarks of individuality, modernity and a certain impertinence that the designer calls “la démode” (“unfashion”). Rykiel signatures include inside-out stitching, a preponderance of black, lace, strass, colourful stripes and, of course, the knit pullovers that have become synonymous with the brand.

Well, what to expect? H&M hasn’t published preview yet, but I guess it will look like her latest collections:

I Love Your Style

New fashion book alert! I love fashion books that are a mixture of different styles and ideas (mixing designer with high street and new with vintage), and use different sources for inspiration. I think I found one of these books: it’s called “I Love Your Style” and written by Amanda Brooks.

About the book she has said; “I wanted it to be very commercial. I wanted it to be a manual. I wanted it to be soft cover at a very accessible price point. I always knew that I wanted to sell it in Urban Outfitters and Anthropology and not just Barneys or Bergdorf’s book department. I didn’t want it to be a precious book—I have so many beautiful coffee table books and I can’t say that I ever read.”

I’ve ordered my copy, can’t wait to read it!

Tim Burton by Tim Walker

The October issue of Harper’s Bazaar has a great fashion spread, influenced by Tim Burton. Tim Burton has made some of my favorite movies (like Edward Scissorhands and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) and also worked as a music video director for bands like The Cure and The Killers. This fashion shoot has his name written all over:  the dark, gothic atmosphere, Victorian clothing and a skeleton here and there – oh, and he also appears in some shots. If you want to know more about him, the Museum of Modern Art in New York has an exhibition of his work as a filmmaker, writer, photographer and illustrator. And check out his next project: the Alice in Wonderland movie!
