L.A.M.B. Fall 2010

Yesterday was the showing of L.A.M.B.’s Fall 2010 collection. The difficulty with L.A.M.B. is that their collection can be fantastic, or a complete bummer. Although Gwen Stefani is the “face” of the brand, since L.A.M.B.’s head desiners Zaldy and Andrea Lieberman left, the label became very mediocre. Since then it seems L.A.M.B.  has lost it’s original fifties-ska-punkrock roots. So what about this new collection…..

This season was a mature mixture of Gwen’s trademarks:  “vintage, boudoir, military, fifties, sexy, and futuristic.” I personally love all the leather items, I want the greenish leather pants, the leather shorts (hello again!) and the jackets with the pointy shoulders.

Spring 2010 LAMB handbags + video from clothing show!

Plus just in:

Glam rock diva & fashion icon, Gwen Stefani, expanded her clothing line L.A.M.B into the computer industry (yep you read right) by teaming up with Apple for a L.A.M.B line of MAC notebooks and covers. Before the show on Thursday, Gwen posed for an impromptu photo shoot backstage and she looks completely flawless as always.

L.A.M.B. Spring 2010

Finally Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B. label made a comeback on the runway! Two years ago L.A.M.B. had a beautiful mod/ska influenced Spring 2008 collection on the runway during New York Fashion Week, and after an absence of two years (and mediocre collections), L.A.M.B. looks reborn with a fresh Spring 2010 collection.

The clothes for this season can be described as “80’s street chic”: off-the-shoulder shirts, tye dye prints, zippers, harem pants, leggings, slouchy tops, “diaper skirts”, very short dresses and a bit of leopard. Although the fashion press names Bow Wow Wow and Bananarama as references, this collection is much more elegant and streamlined than the messy 80’s look. Love it!

Classic Wardrobe Staple: Lace Dresses

I know lace dresses were on every runway for autumn 2008 / winter 2009, but to me it’s a classic that never goes out of style. I like the versatility of lace: easy to  dress up (heels) or down (boots), suitable for summer (bare legs) and winter (black opaque tights), and it can be worn with denim or leather jackets, blazers and cardigans. Throughout the years I’ve collected really great  lace dresses. I never get bored of them and wear them again and again and again…..
