Yesterday was the showing of L.A.M.B.’s Fall 2010 collection. The difficulty with L.A.M.B. is that their collection can be fantastic, or a complete bummer. Although Gwen Stefani is the “face” of the brand, since L.A.M.B.’s head desiners Zaldy and Andrea Lieberman left, the label became very mediocre. Since then it seems L.A.M.B. has lost it’s original fifties-ska-punkrock roots. So what about this new collection…..
This season was a mature mixture of Gwen’s trademarks: “vintage, boudoir, military, fifties, sexy, and futuristic.” I personally love all the leather items, I want the greenish leather pants, the leather shorts (hello again!) and the jackets with the pointy shoulders.
Watch Gwen talking about this new collection:
Finally Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B. label made a comeback on the runway! Two years ago L.A.M.B. had a beautiful mod/ska influenced Spring 2008 collection on the runway during New York Fashion Week, and after an absence of two years (and mediocre collections), L.A.M.B. looks reborn with a fresh Spring 2010 collection.
The clothes for this season can be described as “80’s street chic”: off-the-shoulder shirts, tye dye prints, zippers, harem pants, leggings, slouchy tops, “diaper skirts”, very short dresses and a bit of leopard. Although the fashion press names Bow Wow Wow and Bananarama as references, this collection is much more elegant and streamlined than the messy 80’s look. Love it!
My favorite looks (the jacket on the first picture is my must have item):

I know lace dresses were on every runway for autumn 2008 / winter 2009, but to me it’s a classic that never goes out of style. I like the versatility of lace: easy to dress up (heels) or down (boots), suitable for summer (bare legs) and winter (black opaque tights), and it can be worn with denim or leather jackets, blazers and cardigans. Throughout the years I’ve collected really great lace dresses. I never get bored of them and wear them again and again and again…..
What to wear with a lace dress? Maybe lace tights?
Karen Elson wearing Prada on the september 2008 cover of Vogue UK.
Frilled lace dress from the 60’s by fashion photographer John French.
White lace, black tights – always a perfect duo.
Daisy Lowe in bright red lace.
From the L.A.M.B. spring 2008 collection: lace, mini and transparent sounds all wrong, but can look this good.
Model Amber Valetta in innocently white.
And not so innocent in a black lacey nun outfit for POP magazine.
Lace goes grunge.

The new L.A.M.B. spring collection has arrived! L.A.M.B. is the favorite brand of us threeinacrowd girls, in fact we are the only three idiots in the Netherlands 1. who know the brand, 2. are willing to pay ridiculous prices for it, 3. and live on macaroni and cheese for the rest of the month untill payday comes…..
The spring 2009 collection combines the idea of 40’s Western tailoring juxtaposed to the richness of Indian costume and textiles. The collection features fabrics and trims that include many variations on cotton, including silks, gauzes, double layer cottons and cotton stretch in addition to jerseys and wool crepe. L.A.M.B.’s signature use of black and white has been supplemeted with vivid clementine orange, sindoor red and electric pink as well as rich heather greys. The collection features a celestial print, a henna print, a block print, a nomad print, and a border print. The silhouettes include classic, feminine L.A.M.B. staples like pencil skirts and playful dresses, however many of the jackets feature menswear tailoring.
Spring 2009 isn’t my favorite season, it’s very ordinary compared to the other L.A.M.B. collections. Well, that means a can have a decent meal this season!
